TreeHouse Health Adds Tenth Portfolio Company, POPS! Diabetes Care
MINNEAPOLIS (Mar. 7, 2016) – TreeHouse Health (TreeHouse-Health.com), an innovation center designed to invest in emerging healthcare companies and help accelerate their growth, announces the addition of a tenth Portfolio Company. POPS! Diabetes Care, a company creating a new diabetes care model for improved outcomes, joined the ecosystem in February.
“We were first introduced to POPS! through the MN Cup competition, and it has been exciting to see their growth as a company throughout this past year. The technology POPS! developed has the opportunity to be a major game changer in the diabetes management world,” said J.D. Blank, Managing Director of TreeHouse Health.
Monitoring blood sugar throughout the day is a vital tool to control diabetes, and yet 75% of diabetes costs are due to complications from poor glucose control. Mobile and personalized healthcare is part of the solution. The POPS! glucose-testing device connects to the back of a user’s smartphone, creating a unique, simple testing experience that 90% of patients report as less painful.
“We are excited to be a part of TreeHouse Health.” Lonny Stormo, CEO of POPS! Diabetes Care said, “Their investment, strategic partners, and advisors will be key to bringing our diabetes-changing solutions to market.”
During the time Portfolio Companies spend at TreeHouse Health, they are exposed to leading established healthcare organizations, investors, clinical collaborators, payers, and other expert resources. The TreeHouse Health ecosystem offers this exposure as well as cash investment, office space, and a strong focus on business development. The POPS! team will be co-located, with a presence in the TreeHouse Health space as well as an office in Stillwater, MN.
